Anna Premoli talks about her latest novel, Stuck With You, with a different kind of hero.

1. Tell us more about your latest book, Stuck With You.

It’s a story about Lavinia, a cheerful and social media-obsessed student who is finishing her degree in Economics in Milan, and Sebastiano, a future computer engineer, nerd, introvert and big social media critic. They’ll be forced to find a way to overcome their mutual dislike in order to cooperate for a university projects. Spoiler alert: it won’t be easy…

2. Where did you get the inspiration for the novel?

Well, I did marry myself a computer engineer, so you can say I’m really fond of geeks and I know what I’m talking about. 😉

3. Can you describe Stuck With You in 3 adjectives?

Funny, sweet and (hopefully) engaging.

4. If you have to pick one favourite character from all your books, who would it be and why?

Having to choose a favourite character is a little bit like picking a favourite child for a parent, but I have to admit Sebastiano Marconi is pretty special. He’s very different from a traditional romance hero, fiercely intelligent but emotionally “difficult”. I left a piece of my heart with him.

5. What is your creative process like?

I usually go with the flow. Thankfully my brain is quite organized, so it compensates for my lack of structure when writing.

6. Who are your favourite authors?

I’m a big fan of Agatha Christie’s work, as I love mystery books. In the romance genre, I’ve read and loved Julia Quinn, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Tessa Dare, Loretta Chase, Alice Clayton and many others.

7. What is one thing about you your readers would be surprised to know?

I still work in finance: I like the markets’ adrenaline rush and the possibility of meeting a lot of people (some of them can actually find themselves in one of my stories…).

8. Has any other writer in particular influenced the way you write?

I’ve read so many books in so many languages that it’s impossible to fully understand which specific writer influenced my style. Sometimes it feels like a bowl of soup: so many different flavours!

9. If you weren’t a writer, what would you be?

If I weren’t in finance, I would have liked a career in law.

10. What are you working on next?

Those who happen to like Stuck With You will be happy to know I’ve written Giada’s (Lavinia’s best friend) story as well.

A smart, romantic comedy about how finding The One doesn’t always have to be love at first sight…

Lavinia Ferrari is in her fifth year at Bocconi University where she studies Economics when she is introduced to a new project that will guarantee her extra credits. She’s intrigued… but it means the class must team up with students from the Computer Engineering course. Lavinia has absolutely no interest in the project, and to top things off, she’s paired with Seb Marconi who is less than enthusiastic.

When the work begins, her friends seem to be making great progress with their partners, but Lavinia isn’t having the same luck… Seb is making it quite clear that he’s not interested in the project, or Lavinia, fuelling her frustration. She has no choice – they’re stuck in this, and besides, she won’t receive her extra credits unless they work together. Lavinia must come up with a way to convince the guy who drives her crazy to put the work in… but how?

Anna Premoli is a bestselling author in Italy. She began writing to relieve stress while working as a financial consultant for a private bank. Her previous novel, Love to Hate You won the Bancarella prize in 2013.
